Easton's Beach

Easton's Beach, also known as First Beach, is a popular destination for tourists visiting Newport, Rhode Island. This 59-acre beach offers a classic coastal experience with a splendid sandy beach, boardwalk, carousel, and plenty of amenities. With Narragansett Bay on one side and the famous Newport Cliff Walk on the other, Easton's Beach offers both picturesque beach views and easy access to Newport's most famous historic attractions, including the opulent Gilded Age mansions that once belonged to America's wealthiest families, such as the Vanderbilt's and the Astor's.

The beach has been a popular spot for recreation and relaxation since the 19th century when it became one of the first public beaches in Rhode Island. Over the years, Easton's Beach has undergone several major improvements, including the construction of the Rotunda, a distinctive round building on the boardwalk that has served as a ballroom, bathhouse, and even a roller-skating rink. Today, the Rotunda is home to the Save the Bay Exploration Center, offering an opportunity for visitors to learn about marine life in Narragansett Bay.
