Grafton Street

Grafton Street is a popular shopping district in Dublin, Ireland. The street was named after the Duke of Grafton and was first established in the 18th century. Grafton Street is pedestrianized, making it an excellent place to explore by foot. The street is lined with a variety of stores ranging from high-end fashion boutiques to more affordable shops. There are also numerous cafes, restaurants, and street performers that add to the lively atmosphere.

One of the most iconic landmarks in Grafton Street is the statue of Molly Malone. She is a fictional character who is known as the 'Cockles and Mussels' girl. The statue celebrates the traditional Dublin song and is a popular spot for tourists to take photos. Another famous landmark is the St. Stephen's Green Park at one end of the street. The park is a tranquil oasis in the middle of the bustling city and is perfect for a relaxing break from shopping.

Grafton Street is also steeped in history. The street was originally home to a number of wealthy aristocrats who built grand townhouses there. During the 1916 Easter Rising, Grafton Street was a battleground as British troops attempted to quell the uprising. Some of the bullet holes from that time can still be seen in the walls of some of the buildings.
